I'm on two different types of sites - a completely free sketchy site, and a paying site that caters to physically unappealing men. The free site has every type of guy under the sun, from the cheesy no shirt pic in the mirror guy to the married man looking for a mistress to super hot guy looking for sex. The paid site seems to have only two types of guy, the nice guy who is attractive but 5'6", or the unattractive tall man. At 5'2", I know I should be able to accept a man at any height, but I just can't date a guy that I know I would have to protect if we were ever mugged.
On the free site, I get approximately 10-20 messages a day. On the paid site, I get two. Out of 20 messages, I usually get several unappetizing notes from fat or old men that I delete immediately. Mixed in are messages that are creepy like "when can we fuck?" or "I'm the last man you're ever going to kiss" or "I love you. Please be my girlfriend". I'm lucky if I get three messages from seemingly normal people. When did normal become such a rarity?
Tonight was very tame and lame. Against my better judgement, I decided to give this guy a chance despite his photos. He wasn't ugly per se, but had a very oddly shaped head with an elongated forehead. I went on the date because we had a few nice conversations, he came from a good family, he had a job, and owned his own apartment - huge upgrade from several of my exs.
He suggested I pick the place as I knew the area best... he lives in Jersey - minus 1. I picked a tapas place to keep things short. As I thought, absolutely no sparks, but not completely unenjoyable. He paid for the date and asked to walk me home. On the walk, that's when he waved the freak flag. In the middle of the conversation, he casually says "there's something I'd like to do." I'm thinking that he's going to mention a movie he would like to see or a new exhibit, so I ask "what?". That's when he swiftly turns toward me, grabs both of my arms and tries to push me up against the wall and plant one on me. I'm literally trying to wrestle this guy off while moving my head frantically from left to right to keep his grimy lips off my face. He gives up and looks embarrassed. I can tell he's uncomfortable so to try and alleviate the tension I boldly lie and say "I never kiss on a first.". I don't know if he believes me or not, but I'm already at the door to my building and say good night. Phew! Disaster averted.
